The Unified Registration System (URS) is coming soon.
The Unified Registration System is an electronic online registration system. The FMCSA’s upcoming system serves to streamline and combine several registration processes into one single online registration system. See Seaton & Husk's Memo re: Unified Registration System Final Rule.
September 14, 2015 UPDATE:
The FMCSA has provided an update on the timeline: "FMCSA will publish a Federal Register Notice in October 2015 regarding a regulatory extension to provide sufficient time for the Agency to launch the new URS website and implement multiple provisions that were to be effective on October 23, 2015."
October 23, 2015: The Agency will require all entities registering or providing information to the Agency to do so through the URS electronic online registration process.
PIN Number Required: All registrants will be required to use a Personal Identification Number to access and complete any online transactions with the FMCSA.
There are two types of PIN numbers: USDOT PIN and MC (Docket) PIN.
You may request your PIN numbers from the FMCSA if forgotten or lost.
(Note: Docket Number PIN cannot be emailed. FMCSA states to allow 7 - 10 Business Days to receive a PIN notification letter.)
